The biggest question we get asked as adults is, “What do you want to do with your life?”. I thought the answer would be in plain sight of me. I thought if I finish school, I’d figure it out. “So what do you want to do?”; What if I don’t know? We are all looking for that reason to get up in the morning.
There’s a lot of pressure for a generation that wants more meaning in their work, more financial security, and more time. One day turns into one year; one year turns into five. Then you open your eyes and what do you see? Are you where you should be?
We go to school, move away, study for exams, explore – all searching for the same thing. We pay for knowledge, we sacrifice the life we dream of for a life that keeps us above water. Maybe you will live a fabulous life on the outside, but please do not trade that for rewarding experiences. What might unfold in your life may show you true value and keep true wealth in perspective.
Maybe you’re lost right now. You are young and you have no idea what you want to do with the rest of your life. And that can be terrifying. But you want to know what I think? After everything you have gone through, after everything that’s happened to get you to this very point, at least you are trying. And right now, I think that’s enough.
The most important thing is to be happy. I don’t care if that means standing on top of a mountain to take the perfect picture, waking up early to analyze the stock market, teaching a room full of tired souls, singing at your local hall, or owning a farm. Whatever makes you happy – is all that matters.
Everything is hard if you don’t have passion. Today, more than ever before, we have all the tools we need to succeed. It’s not that it’s impossible; it’s the fact that too many of us aren’t sticking with it. You know the answer. It’s in there. Whether you’re afraid to pursue it, or perhaps there is plenty of doubt. Maybe saying it out loud seems silly. Let me tell you something – the whole world can doubt you. The whole world can question you. Let them. But do not doubt yourself.
So make the big choices. Forget about fear, embarrassment, pride, and failure… When you have to go through the difficult situations, that’s when you find out who you are and what your values are. Remember while you’re out there – be soft. Do not let the world make you hate. Do not let bitterness steal you away. Please take care of yourself; you are everything to yourself. That alone is enough.
So what do I want to do with my life?… It’s a surprise.
“The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do” – Steve Jobs.

I’m glad you liked Jay! Yes it takes a while sometimes and when you do find something you are passionate about, the next battle is being brave enough to pursue it.

Love those thoughts! Good advice to the younger generation. As for the âmore matureâ. . . will they ever stop searching!? Perhaps we are not supposed to stop searching.
